Holy Week

Wow, slowly, tentatively, maturity is starting to creep into our society. Here in San Diego, Boshop Robert Brom has apologized to the McCusker family. He goes so far as to offer to celebrate a mass for John himself.

In the 11the Circuit, Judge Whittemore has the sad duty to tell Terri Schiavo's parents what so many other courts have already told them, Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state that she won't recover from. Terri's parents are now captives of an insane confluence of right-wing politics, anti-abortion fanatics and sensation-happy media. I pray Terri doesn't last much longer.

Now, if there were only some way to take guns away from "lost" kids, and put hope into them. The horror that visits us every so often in our schools, so uniquely American, condemns us before the civilized world and any loving God.
