|San Diego Soliloquies|

So it turns out (courtesy of John @ Americablog) that Bishop Robert Brom, who denied a Catholic funeral anywhere in the Diocese of San Diego to John McCusker because of McCusker's business, has a little history of controversy himself. The Catholic Church in Minnesota paid $100,000 to settle sexual misconduct claims against him. Bummer.
One of the main problems with the priest sexual misconduct scandal is there undoubtedly have been unsavory headline seekers and scandal mongers who preyed on innocent and publically identifiable priests. Which only mean such priests should show the mercy Jesus called all of us to show to the "least" of his flock, much less someone who, like McCusker, spent time making this a better place to live.
I've been told many times that "We" are the church. If "We" are the Church, then what is a stupid, evil man like Brom doing in a position to make decisions like this? "We" need to be about getting better employees.
