Why Didn't They Cover This in International Negotiations?

Today's New York Times has an article entitled Tough New Tactics by U.S. Tighten Grip on Iraq Towns. In it we are treated to this prceless commentary:

"'You have to understand the Arab mind," Capt. Todd Brown, a company commander with the Fourth Infantry Division, said as he stood outside the gates of Abu Hishma. "The only thing they understand is force - force, pride and saving face."

The article describes how we've ringed entire towns wth razor wire, and blown up buildings in retaliation for attacks on our troops. In other words, we're a real occupyin' force now.

The United States Armed Forces are now blessed with an impossible job, and they are doing it alone, courtesy of the idiots currently runnig our government. But we are now using Indian and Boer War tactics against entire towns in Iraq. We are punishing entire towns for the actions of a few because we have no intelligence assets to tell us who is actually killing our troops. As I've said before, we're stuck in the wrong war in the right place at the wrong time. My opinion on this mess? We kicked over the anthill, we're responsible for whomever takes over in the chaos. That being said we need to get some group other than us in there to do the organizing.
